Actions around the world

London: 10 Downing Street

People and Planet is a U.K student campaign group, that acts on climate change, AIDS, poverty and trade justice. By chance, we were invited to Downing Street to present our "Action On AIDS" petition on the day Bush was throwing his inaugeration bash. We had been warned not to do any stunts, so it was terrifying going through security having been told that the press had let on that there would be a Bush stunt! I slipped off my jacket with my back to the door of Number 10, did the official presentation, then turned my back to reveal the message. I felt we had to take advantage of the position we were in, to make a stand and join all the other people turning their backs on Bush.
